North Korea's Kim says U.S. will never start war against North

SEOUL (Reuters) – North Korean leader Kim Jong Un said on Monday that the United States will never be able to start a war against North Korea now that his country has developed the capability to hit all of the U.S. mainland with its nuclear weapons.


“The entire United States is within range of our nuclear weapons, and a nuclear button is always on my desk. This is reality, not a threat,” Kim said during a televised New Year’s Day speech.

Asian stocks rally as China's factory bounce lifts confidence

READ MORE TOKYO (Reuters) – Asian stocks powered higher on Monday as positive Chinese factory gauges and signs of progress in Sino-U.S. trade talks boosted sentiment, although another defeat for British Prime Minister Theresa May’s Brexit deal added to sterling’s woes. Spreadbetters expected European stocks to open higher, with Britain’s FTSE gaining 0.4 percent, Germany’s DAX adding 0.8 percent and France’s CAC rising 0.9 percent. MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan added 1 percent and the Shanghai Composite Index rallied 2.4 percent.
